Entry #5 - Mayhem

Promposals are a thing every girl wants when it comes time for prom. Most guys make a poster, get their friends involved and make a big scene, or something very unique. In the Allstate commercial, "Mayhem Promposal", a kid sets up candles to form the question 'Prom?' in the front yard of his future date for her to see out of her window. The man in the suit, Mayhem, explains how it will all start to go downhill. Suddenly, the wind knocks over a candle which causes leaves to catch on fire and spread toward the house then catching the trellis' on fire. 'Mayhem' begins to break out, the dad runs out with the fire extinguisher annoyed with his daughter's prom date. Most parents have probably experienced promposals from simple to the most extravagant or they know kids can do dumb things sometimes. Although there is a slim chance of your house being caught on fire from a promposal, you wouldn't want to take the risk of paying for damages out of pocket. Allstate wants the audience, homeowners, to know that chances of your house catching on fire, leaks ruining multiple areas of your house, or worse could be very low, but it's worth it to know you're in good hands with them. Having the ease of mind that you have good insurance to cover the cost of damages and protect you from mayhem is exactly what Allstate wants you feel.

  1. This ad was very cute with the proposal even when Kyle set up all those candles to say prom. but it was also funny to me when the candles tipped down, because of the wind.
