Entry #10 - First Semester

As the first semester comes to a close, I look back on these past fourteen weeks. It started off very light. I got all my assignments done super quick, good grades, and managed my time very well. But in the last several weeks it has become increasingly harder to manage everything. I have had to learn, the hard way of course, that college takes up a lot of time outside of class. Now that I have survived my first semester, I know what steps to take in my future semesters to be successful.

Having a dedicated place to do work and study is extremely helpful. Sitting at home or at my desk distracts me as there are things around me that could be done. When I go out in public, like Starbucks, there aren't any personal distractions. I love listening to music while I do homework, but listening to songs I like and know also distracts me. Listening to songs I'm not so familiar with or wouldn't typically listen to helps me focus on my homework more.

Along with getting homework done in a specific location, setting certain times during each day to do said homework is very beneficial. I usually tell myself between this time and this time I need to get these assignments done. But in doing this, you have to be disciplined. Nothing else can interrupt this designated time. Any other plans need to be worked around the time to ensure assignments get completed.

Hopefully next semester and those that follow go as good if not better than this semester!

  1. Glad to see all 4 entries for the last GP, Emma. Pretty good new ideas and topics and writing flow. Good visuals. You have done quite well with this project...maybe you should keep blogging after class ends!!
